David Hamblin, Author
David was born to June and Robert Hamblin in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on 9-18-54. He grew up in St. Louis Missouri in a white, Anglo-Saxon, middle-class household, eventually one of five children. David was the second eldest child and first son of two. The Hamblin's were active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon). David’s family made yearly summer trips to Provo, Utah, where his mother (now 94) has family ties. He has had a lifelong passion for studying spiritual healing after his own, remarkable spiritual transformation at 17.
In the late 90’s David began participating in the Native American healing tradition (called the Red Path) and felt quite at home there. Having since studied with Native American shamans and other master teachers, David was made a shaman in the Huichol tradition in 2000. Later, he was ordained a priest in the Lakota Native American Church (2010). He conducted as many as three healing circles a week, as well as many Native American Church sacrament services over the last 20 years, open to the public.
David is also the author of two previous books, The Righteous Branch and Mary and the Book of Mormon. In these, he thoroughly re-interprets and clarifies the scriptural tradition of his childhood Mormon religion. He does so in a way entirely faithful to the intended meanings of the LDS scriptural canon. He shows how his Mormon people gradually (and in all fairness, largely unconsciously), appropriated for themselves the coveted role of the Native American people. The First Faith is the true means to solve our many, ongoing global crises. Thus, unwittingly, and even sincerely, Mormons have produced a counterfeit religious faith they solemnly avow to be the “true church.” David shows how the faithful Native Americans have always been reserved to restore their First Faith tradition to a lost and unhinged world.
Yet, David’s main focus all along has been to create a deliberate and comprehensive healing path accessible to all. He has compassion not only for the indigenous people, but also for the many sincere and well-intended people in our global community. The latter often have a much different set of spiritual challenges and many additional Karmic burdens to overcome in order to find spiritual healing and wholeness. His way of doing things honors the individual's inalienable right to pursue their own way to happiness, regardless of the Karmic outcome.
In effect, David advocates for a new way to include everyone in genuine Red Path healing, wherever they may find themselves. “All may enjoy the benefits of the higher way if that is also what they want.” He has long endured many challenges in order to learn and share these life-giving principles and divine graces, many of which are now available in Mother Earth Manifesta. He says, “I have a real care for those who suffer in our unbalanced and unjust global system. I seek the good in my life by seeking to relieve suffering for those who desire peace and joy.”
